The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for
Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

The Addams Family - Character Descriptions
The descriptions below are a stage depiction of the character and not necessarily the specific requirements of the actor who will play the role.
Gomez Addams, Tenor (Bb2 - G4), 35-55.
A suave man of Spanish descent who adores his wife and children and takes immense pride in being an Addams. He finds himself trapped between his daughter and his wife, being forced to hide Wednesday’s big secret from Morticia. Great comedic timing; strong mover/dancer. Ballroom dancing (especially tango) skills a plus, but not required.
Morticia Addams, Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (G3 - Bb5), 35-55.
Beautiful, leggy and mysterious head of the Addams family who believes strongly in family tradition. Morticia is unnerved thinking that Gomez is hiding something from her. She is confident and sexy with a dry wit. Strong mover/dancer. Ballroom dancing (especially tango) skills a plus, but not required.
Wednesday Addams, Strong pop voice with belt (A3 - E5), 18-22.
Gothic big sister who has her father’s heart and her mother’s sensibility, falls in love with a “normal” boy (Lucas) and wants to introduce his family to hers. Experiences the youthful drama that comes with first love.
Pugsley Addams, Strong high vocals (A3 – F5), 10-14:
The youngest of the Addams Family, Pugsley loves to be tortured by his big sister. Charming and funny, he wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands.
Uncle Fester, Tenor (C3 – G4 [optional C5]), 30s-50s.
Serves as the narrator of the show, Larger than life; lovable, childish, enthusiastic and highly incorrigible. A vaudevillian with great comic timing.
Grandma, Strong character voice (G4 – F5), portrays a 102-year-old woman. Fun, quirky and feisty, Grandma always has a trick up her sleeve. Wise, wacky and sometimes a bit crass. Great comedic timing and physicality.
Lurch, Bass (Eb2 – E4), 20s-50s.
A man of few words, Lurch is the Addams Family butler. His unmistakable commanding presence is accented by long, plaintive groans, some tinged with irony or exasperation. Must have great non-verbal story-telling abilities.
Mal Beinecke, Bari-tenor (C3 – A4), 35-55.
Stuffy, uptight father of Lucas and exasperated husband to Alice. Meets the Addams with skepticism and finds them too bizarre for his liking; cannot fathom being related to them.
Alice Beinecke, Soprano/High Belt (Ab3 – G#5), 35-55.
Lucas’s mother and Mal’s wife, strongly devoted to her family. Appears reserved and collected (even when speaking in rhyme) until she learns to unleash her wild side at dinner with the Addams. Strong comedic actress.
Lucas Beinecke, Pop Tenor (C3 – C5), 18-22.
Hopeful romantic son of Alice and Mal who has fallen in love with Wednesday and intends to marry her. Optimistic, yet struggles to find the balance between his family and the Addams. Strong singer.
The Ancestors, All Vocal Ranges, Ages 16 - 70.
The Addams Family ancestors from various eras who serve as the chorus for the show and help bring the story to life. Featured both singing and dancing throughout the entire show. Seeking actors with both vocal and dancing abilities. Ballroom dancing (especially tango) skills a plus, but not required.
